Ward boy turned doc suspended

Last Updated 12 July 2012, 20:10 IST

Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday suspended the ward boy, who had been found giving stitches to patients at Bulandshahar district hospital.

The chief medical superintendent (CMS) was also sacked.

Much chaos prevailed at the hospital after the staff struck work demanding action against mediapersons for allegedly assaulting them. Some scribes were also allegedly thrashed by the hospital employees.

Emergency services came to a halt leading to one death, reports said adding that doctors have also joined the strike.

UP health minister Ahmed Hasan said the ward boy had been suspended while the CMS had been suspended for allowing him to treat the patients.

Director general of health services Dr Chiranjeev Lal rushed to Bulandshahar on Wednesday to probe the allegations.

“He would be submitting his report shortly after which action would be taken. So far no one has been given a clean chit,” said Hasan.

Ward boys and sweepers had been found giving stitches and injections to critically wounded at the government hospital.
