Cops will come home to register complaints: IGP

District witnesses theft amounting to Rs 1.06 cr, Rs 41.86 lakh recovered

The most worrying aspect for someone who has faced crime, be it burglary or your bags with precious things going missing from bus stand, is that of inordinate delay, the aspect of registering a complaint that is going to cause.

But, this will soon be sorted out, thanks to the new initiative that the police department has taken up.

Sharing this with media persons, IGP Southern Range, A S N Murthy said affected persons can call police control room at 100 and police officers from respective stations will arrive at the doorstep or the spot from wherever the person is calling, to register a complaint. What’s more, they will even start investigations immediately.

This service will be introduced in Mandya as a first step, before extending it to rest of the state.

The system will work based on chain of information. Just as a caller complains of anything that amounts to crime in his vicinity, or something that has happened to himself, the call details and information will be passed on to jurisdictional police station.

The police officers will arrive immediately at the site of crime or the place from where the affected person is calling to take details, register a complaint and assign a case number to the crime, which will be shared with the person too.

This process would be reported back to control room, along with the case number which will be recorded. This process will avoid undue delays in registering a complaint.
