One killed in accident

The deceased has been identified as Nitin (25), a resident of J P Nagar, while details of other four are not known. According to the police, the accident occurred when they were returning home after having dinner at a dhaba on Kanakapura Road. The driver lost control while negotiating median and rammed against it. A diploma graduate, Nitin, was out with his friends, added the police.

Two arrested
The CCB sleuths arrested two persons on the charge of selling Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) meant for Domestic and Commercial consumption to Autorickshaws and recovered material worth Rs 3.5-4 lakh and Rs 5,000 in cash. Parmesh (30) and Sheikh Shabir (24) were arrested from Dodathoguruhalli near Nice Road in the Electronic City Police Station limits. According to the police, four people were involved in the racket. Two other accused, Radhakrishna and Sina are at large.

Robbers caught
The K G Halli police arrested two persons for robbing a woman and recovered Rs 45,000. The accused are Azgarali (37) and Tanvir (24). They had robbed one Sushilamma of Rs 50,000 when she stepped out of the Syndicate Bank in D J Halli recently.

Gang held
The police foiled the attempts of gang which was planning to rob walkers and loners in ISRO layout on Saturday. The accused, Praveen (23), Vasant Kumar (30), Keshav (28) and Yogesh (28) were also planning to break into empty homes in the same area. According to the police, Praveen, one of the accused was wanted in connection with a murder in Udupi. The Police registered a complaint against Praveen for making threatening calls to anonymous people in Kumarswamy Layout.

Tamizhar protest
The Karnataka Tamizhar Katchi on Sunday demanded that Eelam Tamils who are been imprisoned in barbed fence to be sent back to their own settlements in Sri Lanka. The organisation pointed out that United Nations should pressurise Sri Lankan government and also to send international media to find out the actual problems and the facts faced by the Eelam Tamils.
