Kota assures to speed up pending development works

Jetty construction, steps to solve sugar factory employees problems priority

Minister for Port, Inland Water Transport and Muzrai Kota Srinivas Poojary assured to go through the pending work concerning his departments and initiate measures to speed up the work towards completion.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a public felicitation ceremony accorded by Kota Karantha Kalagrama Trust, he said he made an immediate contact with the bureaucrats and officials of the departments which come under the portfolio he holds. As he is new to the field, he is yet to go through the current positions where the departments’ coming under his jurisdiction stands, he said and added that he would look into the problems and the works that are being taken up.

Poojary who is also the District-In-Charge Minister, said the port and jetty construction works are yet to be completed in the district. There are no confusions regarding the delay in jetty construction works at Kodi and Koderi bunder in Kundapur taluk. The engineers concerned will be asked to resume work at the earliest. There is problem of sea erosion and the construction of permanent and temporary walls across the sea. All these issues will be attended as early as possible. “I will look into all the issues,” he assured.

He said that the other major problem in the district is Brahmavara Sugar factory that has not found the light of the day since many years. In the beginning, the wages to be given to the farmers, labourers and the cooperative societies will be given priority. Later, plans will be chalked out to revamp the factory. “I will talk to the minister concerned and take immediate action,” he assured.

Stating that environment pollution in the surrounding of coal based Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) thermal plant needs to be addressed, the minister said that he will look into the problems and hold talks with the minister concerned. Stating that he has already visited the area and he will take measures to curtail the pollution in the area, he said that former Kundapur MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty is a saintly politician and his sentiments have been hurt. “I will personally ask the party top leaders to talk to him and clear his anguish. I will meet him shortly and I wish he will not quit BJP,” he said.

Earlier, speaking at the felicitation ceremony, Poojary said he will try his best to give transparent and dedicated work and do justice to the job assigned to him.
