Tempo rams bike, man killed

A man riding pillion on a two-wheeler was killed when a speeding tempo rammed the vehicle from behind at Electronics City on Tuesday night.

Shivakumar, 62, and his brother Ramanjaneyulu, 35, were returning from Singasandra, when the Tempo rammed the bike. The two fell down and the Tempo ran over Shivakumar killing him on the spot. Ramanjaneyulu too sustained severe injuries and is admitted to a hospital. The driver fled the scene abandoning the tempo. Electronics City Traffic Police have registered a case.

In another accident, a man died and his son was seriously injured when a portion of the coconut tree they were cutting, fell on them at Telecom Layout on Wednesday afternoon.

Four men were cutting the tree at an empty site at Telecom Layout. The rope gave way when they were bringing down a cut portion of the tree. It fell on Veera, 50, and his son Venkatesh. The two were immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, but Veera died of injuries on the way. Venkatesh’s condition is said to be critical. The other two men working with them and the owner of the site are absconding. Sampigehalli Police have registered a case. 

Burglar arrested

CCB sleuths have arrested a man accused of at least 15 house burglaries in the City. Gunashekar, 32, from Tamil Nadu is the arrested.

The police have also recovered gold jewellery and silver articles worth Rs 35 lakh from him. 

He used to strike at locked houses at night and steal the valuables. He used to sell the valuables in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. He was arrested several times, but continued his activities after coming out on bail.
