A 20-year-old BCom first year student was found stabbed to death at Maurya Enclave in north-west Delhi on Wednesday.

Shivam Kapoor, who was missing since Tuesday evening, was found with acid burns on his face. His father is a steel businessman in Malkaganj.

“He had left home for a stroll after dinner around 10.30 pm on Tuesday, but he did not return home,” a police official said.

His elder brother Deepak said he regularly used to go for walk after dinner and would return in 15-20 minutes.

“I called him on his phone when he did not return home till 11 pm. He told me that he was at Vijay Vihar to have ice cream,” Deepak said.

However, when Shivam did not return till 11.30 pm, Deepak rang him up again, but this time his mobile phone was switched off.

The family then waited for the night and approached cops for help on Wednesday morning.

A missing person complaint was registered at Sabzi Mandi police station and an investigation was taken up.

“We finally found Shivam’s body at Maurya Enclave near a drain around 4pm. The family members were informed and they identified the body,” the official added.

The body had several injury marks too. Sources in the police said three persons, including a woman, have been detained.

“A robbery did not seem to be a motive and a love affair seems to be the cause behind the murder,” sources said. Police officials, however, said the case was being probed from all angles. A missing person case registered earlier has been converted to that of murder and destruction of evidence.
