Bihar minister is all praise for HRD centres in Kolar

Bihar Labour Minister Janardhana Singh on Friday lauded the efforts of State Human Resources Development centres in imparting skill development training to unemployed youth in the State.

He was speaking with reporters after visiting a HRD centre here. He said he was on a visit to the State to compare and study the guidance given to unemployed youth in the states of Bihar and Karnataka.

Singh was all praise for the way unemployed people in the rural areas are encouraged at the centres. “Bihar too is planning to start skill development for the unemployed. Training is required in making the youth self-reliant,” he added.

Training helps them excel in whatever they do. The attempt by the Bihar government is aimed at making the youth in the State capable in every field, Singh said.

Speaking on the occasion, G N Shivamurthy, Joint Director of Employment and Training department said as many as seven employment exchanges have already been converted as skill development centres. The rest will also be converted into skill development centres soon, he added.

Registration of job-seekers, counselling, imparting skill development training, certification, organising job fairs and other services are provided to unemployed youth at the skill development centres free of cost. This concept is first of its kind in the country and already several people have benefited from this, Shivamurthy said.

The centres give an opportunity to companies to select and appoint people from the pool of unemployed youths, said K Srinivas, district employment officer.

Resource person at the centre Punith of Manipal Group, Joint Director of Bihar Labour Department Sanjay Kumar, Vijayendra, Rajshekhar, Suma, Hema and Narayanswamy of the Centre were present.
