He waited for an auspicious day

Priya Krishna chose Brahmarathotsava day in Tirumala to take oath as Assembly member


He defeated V Somanna in the by-election to the Govindarajanagar constituency, to be elected to the assembly on the Congress ticket. Now, 26-year-old Priya Krishna is the youngest MLA in Karnataka.

Priya Krishna avoided taking oath in the recently concluded legislature session, citing that the then prevailing pitrupaksha was not auspicious for him.  Sources close to Priya Krishna said that he chose the day as it marks the Brahmarathotsava.

Members of Priya Krishna family are devotees of Tirupathi Venkatesha, and they seek his blessings before launching any new venture. The family is into real estate business.
Speaker Jagadish Shettar administered the oath of office to Krishna at his chamber in Vidhana Soudha.

A good number of Congress leaders, including Priya Krishna’s father and MLA M Krishnappa were present.


Later, speaking to presspersons, Priya Krishna said that he would strive to develop infrastructure facilities in his constituencies with the guidance of senior leaders in the party. Priya Krishna said that his immediate goal would be to get more number of seats for the party in the Palike elections.
