Two held for murder over enmity

Two men have been arrested for killing a man over enmity at Bhalswa Dairy last week, police said on Saturday.

Manoj, 22, and Dara, 42, were held after an investigation into the death of Sushil, 30, a property dealer in Burari, who was found dead with his head smashed on July 15. Manoj has confessed that his brother Harish, who also has a criminal history, had enmity with Sushil.

“The probe had revealed that Sushil also had a criminal history and was involved in eight cases of robbery and causing hurt lodged at different police stations of north, outer and north-west Delhi,” said P Karunakaran, deputy commissioner of police (north-west).

On July 14, Sushil was seen roaming in an inebriated condition, and abusing and threatening Manoj outside his home.

“Information available with us  hinted that Manoj may be involved in Sushil’s murder. So he was apprehended and interrogated at length,” the DCP added. He confessed to have killed Sushil along with his friend Dara. He told police that Sushil used to rebuke his brother Harish whenever he visited their locality.

He said on July 14, he and Dara followed Sushil and killed him. “They overpowered and smashed his head with two stones,” Karunakaran said. Police have recovered two bloodstained stones and Manoj and Dara’s bloodstained clothes.
