Five men have been nabbed for their alleged involvement in robbery and snatching incidents in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

The gang led a gypsy life while they committed robberies moving from one city to another in quick succession, police said on Saturday.

Davender, Parminder, Sandeep, Visheshwar and Daleep, who hail from UP’s Moradabad were held on Friday afternoon at Rohini. A country-made pistol, two packs of red chilli powder and a rope have been recovered from them.

“We had received a tip-off that some robbers of Moradabadi gang will assemble near Japani Park to rob people coming out from a nearby bank. A trap was laid and five men were apprehended,” said Sanjay Kumar Jain, deputy commissioner of police (crime and railways).

The accused disclosed that they used to travel on two-wheelers and used their vehicles to flee from the spot after committing the crime.

“They usually followed the Moradabad-Ghaziabad-Rohtak-Bhiwani-Hissar-Hanumangarh-Bhatinda-Jalandhar route and came back also via the same route. They stay in a particular city for four or five days depending on the booty they collect,” Jain added.
