Brigadiers skipper Deepak Chougule had little hesitation in putting the opposition into bat in slightly damp conditions. The bowlers responded to his call, producing a tight effort to restrict Diamonds to 118 for five. The Bangalore outfit didn’t face too many problems while chasing the target under the stewardship of Robin Uthappa (69, 32b, 6x4, 4x6).

Man-of-the-match Uthappa, who began his stay at the crease with two consecutive fours off Sharath ST through mid-off and long-off, soon shifted into overdrive smashing bowlers all around the park.

A slog-swept six off Sharath ST took the Brigadiers past the 100-run mark and the Coorg lad, justifiably, brought up the winning runs with another six off Ajai Singh Chouhan over mid-on.

Earlier, Diamonds batsmen were never allowed to settle down and at 40 for four, the course of the match was clear. They struggled to stitch together any meaningful partnership save for the fifth wicket between M Nidish (54, 48b, 1x4, 3x6) and Pavan Deshpande. But the alliance consumed 42 balls as Diamonds continued to struggle for quick runs.
