The House meeting of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation was adjourned twice on Monday over the recent sale of RSS literature at the corporation headquar-
ters.

Opposition councillors demanded an explanation from the commissioner over the permission given to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh volunteers to sell subscriptions of RSS mouthpieces Panchajanya and Organiser at the Civic Centre.

“The Civic Centre does not belong to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party alone. It is public property where such activities are illegal,” said leader of opposition Mukesh Goel.

Opposition members stepped into the well of the House, raising slogans against the ruling party and the RSS, after the leader of the House and the mayor questioned the logic behind raising the issue 10 days after the reported incident.

“The incident happened on July13. If you were seriously aggrieved by it, you should have given at least one wriiten complaint against the issue,” mayor Meera Aggarwal said.

“You are disrupting the House proceedings just for the sake of doing it,” added the mayor.

With the opposition leaders not relenting, the mayor had to adjourn the House twice.
