Man on polygamy spree in Maddur

A man who tried his luck to be a third time groom  has now gone at large. He is already married having two wives.

The accused has been identified as Mahesh alias Akash, son of Puttaswamy and Channamma of Anedoddi village near Maddur taluk.

According to his first wife Sujatha, of Belakawadi village of Magadi taluk, Ramanagar district he married her for the first time a year ago and had received 40 gms gold and Rs 50,000 cash as dowry.

After two months of marriage, he had allegedly demanded Rs one lakh cash and was torturing her every day.

When Sujatha returned to her maternal home, her uncle in an effort to keep her marriage going gave her Rs 50,000 and sent her back to her husband’s home.

But it is alleged that Mahesh was not content and had again harassed her for more money.

Second time

After two months it is said that he married Sushmitha alias Nagamma, resident of Guthalu layout, Mandya city for the second time.

After this he started harassing Sujatha who was by then pregnant and later admitted her to a private hospital in Kanakapura and aborted the foetus.

It is complained that he had snatched her ATM card, mobile phone and marriage certificate and drove her out ofthe house.

She has currently taken refuge at a women’s counselling centre in the town.

Sujatha has lodged a complaint with Besagarahalli police and has appealed to the superintendent of police to take stern action on Mahesh.
