Three members of a family in Karol Bagh area of central Delhi have been arrested for allegedly grabbing property with the help of forged documents, police said on Wednesday.

Suresh, 52, his wife Renuka, 44, and son Sunder, 30, were held over a complaint by Gian Chand, a resident of Chunna Mandi in Paharganj.

“Gian had reported that he had been cheated by the three family members as they had prepared forged documents of his property in Karol Bagh. They claimed to be owners of the property whereas the property was never sold by the complainant,” said Devesh Chandra Srivastva, additional commissioner of police (central).

Gian further said that Sunder was allowed to stay in the building only as a caretaker of Mohinder, Gian’s nephew.

During investigation, it came to notice that in April 2011, Sunder was allowed to stay on the first floor of the property in order to take care of Mohinder. Later on, after the death of Mohinder, Sunder’s father and mother also started living in the building.

“After sometime, the accused hatched a conspiracy for grabbing the property by fraudulent means,” Srivastva added.

Further investigation revealed that after Mohinder’s death, Suresh, Renuka and Sunder procured Gian’s photograph and forged his signature from a poem written by him. They succeeded in preparing forged documents.
