A 24-year-old youth has been arrested for killing his drug-addict father who used to abuse his mother and cast aspersions on her character in south-east Delhi’s Hazrat Nizammuddin area.

His mother has also been arrested for trying to destroy evidence, police said on Wednesday.

Danish and Naima were held after Sadruddin was found dead inside his Nizzamuddin Basti residence at around 5.30 pm on Tuesday. He had a deep-cut injury on his neck and multiple stab wounds on his back.

“On sustained interrogation, Danish disclosed that his father was addict to drugs for the past 20 years and having TB and respiratory diseases. His father also used to abuse and hit his mother almost every day since his childhood and raised suspicion on her moral character,” said Ajay Chaudhry, additional commissioner of police (south-east).

He disclosed that, on Tuesday, when Naima asked Sadruddin to go to her parental house and Azam Khan Haweli near Jama Masjid for treatment, he got infuriated and abused her.

After that Sadruddin left the house and returned drunk. At home, he again passed filthy remarks on Naima, following which Danish lost his temper and tried to hit Sadruddin with a knife.

However, Sadruddin managed to snatch the knife and stabbed Danish on his right thigh. Then Danish took a meat chopper and slit his father’s throat and inflicted sharp injuries on his back side.

Naima immediately asked Danish to leave the house telling him that she would clean up the spot and would cook up a story to save him.

According to Chaudhry, it was observed that the crime scene was disturbed as the floor was swept using a wiper. “Everything in the house was found intact which laid suspicion on the role of an insider,” Chaudhry added.

During interrogation, Naima had flatly made allegations on her brother-in-law Zahiruddin saying that both the brothers had a property dispute which was solved amicably by family members.

She was also making vague statements pertaining to investigation, which raised strong doubts on her. She also revealed cleaning up the floor of rooms and passage with the wiper and cloth.

She further told cops that she had gone to take medicine from Azam Khan Haweli near Jama Masjid and returned home at about 5.30 pm, while Danish had gone in search of job at 2 pm.

However, Zahiruddin said he had seen Danish leaving the house in a hurry at around 5 pm.
