Real life fairy tale

Riteish Deshmukh is just like anyone else. He too, always dreamt of finding a genie by rubbing a lamp.
“I used to rub everything from lamps to glasses to other kitchen utensils. But my genie never came out,” he exclaims. But then he met director Sujoy Ghosh and one of his most cherished wishes came true — that of working with Amitabh Bachchan in Eros International’s Aladin.
“For me, having Mr Bachchan as my Genius (that’s what the Genie is called in Aladin) was truly a dream come true and I don’t think there’s anything more to ask for. I was always waiting for an opportunity to work with Big B and when Aladin happened, I was elated.”
Riteish says that Aladin is a dream role for him as it’s a character that everyone loves as each person would love to be Aladin and have his or her wishes fulfiled by a Genie. Admitting that he’s super excited about Aladin, Riteish says, “Aladin has everything from romance to action, comedy and adventure. I’ve never worked on something like this before.” Aladin is a contemporary look at the classic fairy tale. Packed with fun, music, masti, action and adventure, Aladin boasts of a visual scale never seen before on Indian screen.
Starring Amitabh Bachchan as Genius — The Genie, Riteish Deshmukh as Aladin and Sanjay Dutt as Ringmaster, Aladin also marks the debut of Sri Lankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandes who is paired opposite Riteish. With music by Vishal and Shekhar, Aladin hits the screens on October 30.

Cherished Soviet ties

Forty years ago, a beautiful Russian Trapeze artist had romanced Rishi Kapoor in the film Mera Naam Joker. Her name was Marina, played by the petite Kseniya Ryabinkina and their brief unspoken love was full of shy smiles and coy glances. Now, for the first time since that 1970 classic, the Moscow-based Kyabinkina and Kapoor reunited on screen in Chintuji, and their pairing was as heartwarming as ever.

Friendship beyond screen

Zayed Khan and Kylie Minogue have made it a point to keep in touch even after completing the shooting of Blue.
Before you come to any conclusion, we need to clarify that it’s strictly friendship here. “Zayed and Kylie got along like a house on fire. The two shared an excellent rapport and those who have seen the rushes of the film say that their chemistry is pretty visible on the screen too.” Zayed gifted Kylie a designer sari on the last day of the shoot. “The gift took Kylie by surprise more so because it was a sari. She wondered how did Zayed know the size that would fit her. Kylie later even asked Zayed about it. Zayed told her, ‘It was just that I kept my wife’s size in mind’. Kylie was touched by Zayed’s gesture,” said a source.
