Last Updated 22 September 2009, 15:21 IST

It says the plane slammed into fields just outside the Iranian capital during a show that was part of a military parade marking the anniversary of the start of the 1980-1988 Iraq-Iran war.

There were no details on the type of the plane but the radio says it was used for military transport purposes. It's unclear if all the casualties in the crash were on board the plane.

Various types of Iranian military planes took part in Tuesday's show, including US made jet fighters and bombers, Russian-made MiG-29, Sukhoi 24 as well as Iranian Saeqeh, or Thunderbolt.
