Complaint against Jaipur mayor for favouring firm

State Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a complaint against Jaipur mayor Jyoti Khandelwal for allegedly favouring a firm which was given tender for beautification of flyovers here, a senior agency official said on Thursday.

According to a complaint filed by Babulal Sharma, the tender was awarded to the firm in 2007 which did not carried out the beautification work in proper manner and caused revenue loss to the government, insepector general, ACB Umesh Mishra said
here.

However, the mayor some time back cancelled the work orders for the firm and directed the officials to start re-tendering process but later she changed her own decision and allowed the firm to continue with the beautification work in the city, he said.

Further investigation into the matter is on, the IG added.

Meanwhile, when contacted, the mayor said the complaint was filed to "malign" her image and there was no irregularity or corruption involved in her decision.
