Duniya Vijay is, for the first time, playing a double role in Rajni-Kantha which is about the underworld.

The story traces the life of those in the underworld and Vijay plays the lead in the film. The movie will also portray Vijay with a cleft lip.

Talking about his role, Vijay says that in one role he appears in a normal avatar where he plays an underworld don and in the other role he plays the one with a cleft lip, “I had to get my pronunciation right. I have a friend with a cleft lip and when I was offered this role, I would sit with him and get my words right. The biggest challenge was talking with a cleft lip,” Vijay tells Metrolife.

Vijay’s second role is as a college-goer. “The two brothers are close and the older one, the underworld don, is protective of his younger brother. This is a rare character and there’s a lot of emotion and sentiment that runs through the film,” says Vijay.
Vijay is known to dabble with different roles and all his movies are known for their bloodshed and violence. “People haven’t seen me in a role like this before. The double role is a good change for me from playing violent characters all the time,” explains Vijay who is quite keen to shed the tag of an onscreen rowdy with this film.

About the title Rajni-Kantha, Vijay says, “I am a big fan of Rajnikanth and I was pretty excited when I heard the title of this film. The title in itself is a moral booster,” he adds. The film is produced by K Manju.

Vijay has also signed a movie titled Chakravathy. “I don’t want to say much about the film. I’ve been asked to shed almost ten kilos for my role and I am working hard to achieve that,” he sums up.
