K B Eregowda of Matnahalli in Kolar taluk, B Bhyregowda of Achchatnahalli of Kolar taluk and V Srinivas of Sunchadevanahalli have been arrested on charges of murdering M K Suresh (28) of Mangasandra, a money-lender.

Money advanced

Suresh had lent a sum of Rs 29,000 to his close friend K B Eregowda and it is said that he was pressing the latter for repayment of the money, by abusing him with expletives.

Similarly, he had lent Rs 5,000 to Bhyregowda of Achchatanahalli as loan and had made him to spend Rs 2,000 on liquor. Suresh was allegedly demanding Bhyregowda to repay the entire sum. He had implicated V Srinivas, driver of the truck transporting vegetables in a theft case and had recovered the money, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Duggappa at a press meet here on Tuesday.

Common motive

All the three had nurtured a grudge against Suresh and hatched a conspiracy to eliminate him. On August 19, they had drinks with Suresh, took him to a desolate place in a four-wheeler,  and later strangulated him to death with a towel. They had burnt the body with petrol near Mittemari tank bed and had parked the vehicle in front of the house of Ananthpur tahsildar. Later they returned to villge.

A team of police personnel consisting CPI Siddaramegowda, PSI K G Satish, probationary SI A Krishna Naik, staff Chandrappa, Harinatha Reddy and Subba Reddy succeeded in cracking the mystery. All the three were arrested from Ramanakippalu village in K R Pet and have been produced before the court.
