Udaipur cop resigns after Naxal threats

A CID sub-inspector in Udaipur has resigned alleging the leakage of his confidential report leading to threat to his life.

Ramesh Katara posted in Salumbar zone of CID alleged that the report to the seniors on Left wing extremist activities was shared with the elements against whom the report was prepared and they now threaten him and his family of their lives.

“I have sent my resignation to officers in Udaipur and Jaipur because there was a threat to my life. I submitted the confidential report 20 days ago about Naxal-related activities in the area to my senior in Udaipur which was to be forwarded to Jaipur but it was leaked in Udaipur,” Katara said on Saturday.

He suspected that someone posted in Udaipur office leaked the report. “Following that, I have started receiving threats. I apprised my seniors about the same and requested them to provide me weapon and security, but my seniors did not cooperate with me. So I decided to resign in the interest of my life and my family,” he said.

But additional SP CID Udaipur, Parvat Singh, has termed Katara’s allegation as baseless.

“The allegations are quite baseless and no report was leaked from here,” Singh said. IG-Intelligence Rajesh Nirwan also said he had no information regarding the matter.
