'Telecast of footage hurt us more'

The girls among the party-goers attacked on Saturday have been struggling to overcome the trauma, but the repeated telecast of the footage on television channels has made their life even more miserable.

Speaking to Deccan Herald on Monday, one of the girls pleaded the channels to stop airing the clippings.

“Please don’t telecast the attack videos. I get depressed whenever I see it on television. The footage has hurt me more than what I underwent during the attack. Is that the way society portrays women. Do we not have any respect? Did we commit any grave mistake?” the girl asked. She said she had attended the party with the permission of her parents.
“We come from educated and respected families. In fact, we had planned to organise the birthday party at one of our homes, but changed the idea at the last minute. We knew the male friends very well and none of them misbehaved with us. But the actual shock came in the form of rogues who attacked us without paying heed to our requests,” she said.

On filing a complaint against the attackers, she said they will take a decision only after consulting their parents.
