Laxman warms up with a century

Colts collapse; KSCA XI in charge

Star India batsman VVS Laxman warmed up for the international season ahead with a fluent century against KSCA President’s XI at the SJCE ground in Mysore on Tuesday.

On the second day of the four-day clash, the stylish right-hander stroked his way to an unbeaten 102 (154b, 15x4) as Hyderabad Cricket Association reached 253 for four in 78 overs at close of play. The visitors were also bolstered by a relatively sedate Akshath Reddy (105, 201b, 13x4, 2x6) as they came within striking distance of overhauling President’s first innings total of 278 for nine in 90 overs.

In Bangalore at the BGS ground, KSCA Colts, overnight 230/3, lost wickets in a heap to be reduced to 279/9 in 100.3 overs when day’s play was called off due rain and bad light. Mayank Agarwal, who had worked hard to reach 91, couldn’t bring up the three-figure score, falling at the overnight score.

At the Alur ground, KSCA XI got on top of Bangladesh ‘A’ with off-spinner K Gowtham leading the home charge with a four-wicket haul. After managing 284 all out resuming from their bedtime score of 256/7, the hosts did well with the balll to leave the visiting side reeling at 188/7.

Brief scores: At Alur (1): KSCA XI: 284 all out in 89.1 overs (CM Gautham 63, Vinay Kumar R 27, Enamul Haque (Jr) 6-119) vs Bangladesh ‘A’: 188/7 in 62 overs (Md. Imrul Kayes 37, Md Shamsur Rehman Shuvo 35, Mominul Haque Sowrab 52, Md. Mithun 35 batting; K Gowtham 4-59).

At BGS: KSCA Colts: 279/9 in 100.3 overs (Manyank Agarwal 91, Pawan Deshpande 46, Anirudha Joshi 35 batting; Pirdaush Bhaja 5-90, Murtuja Vohora 2-56) vs Baroda Cricket Association. Due to overnight rain match started late and was called off at 3.00 pm due rain and bad light.

At Mysore (SJCE): KSCA President’s XI: 278/9 in 90 overs (Sinan Abdul Khader 28; Ravi Kiran 4-35, M Hasan 2-81, K Naidu 2-45) vs Hyderabad CA: 253/4 in 78 overs (Akshath Reddy 105, VVS Laxman 102 batting; Ryan Ninan 2-43).

At Gangothri Glades: Rajasthan Cricket Association Academy: 277 all out in 83.3 overs (Ankit Lamba 56, Azim Akhtar 32; Kshemal Waingankar 5-76, Balawinder Singh Sandhu (Jr) 2-52, Rakesh Prabhu 2-87) vs Mumbai CA: 154/0 in 50 overs (Swapnil Salvi 115 batting, Kaustubha Pawar 34 batting).
