Hindustani vocal

Shruthi will present a Hindustani classical vocal recital programme by Gowri Tambe and Nanditha Pai, on September 27, 5.30 pm at Kalashree, opposite ESI Hospital, Rajajinagar. Vikas Neregal, Ashwin Walwalkar will play tabla and harmonium respectively. For details, call 23355687.

Carmen Espinel
The Bangalore School of Music will hold a Spanish classical guitar recital by Carmen Espinel, on September 25, 7.15 pm at the Alliance Francaise. The Finals II National Classical Guitar Competition will be held at the same venue on September 26, 10.30 am (junior) and 2.30 pm (seniors).

Songs and ballads

A musical concert by Jude Lazaro and Robin Colaco will be held on September 26, 6 pm at the Reliance Time Out. The duo will sing classic and timeless love songs and ballads from over the years. For details, call 9980784501. 


Chaitanya Music Academy will conduct Krishna Music Competition for the age-group five to 10 (sub junior), 11 to 18 (junior), 19 to 30 (senior) on light and classical music. ‘Live Gig’

Fourteen bands will perform as part the Live Gig on September 27, 11 am to
6 pm at the Indira Gandhi Musical Fountain. Bridge, Burn and No Era and other bands will be part of the live music.

Vocal recital

Dr R B Sontakke and Lata Rao Trust for Universal Music will present a vocal recital of Chaitra Sontakke, and harmonium and guitar jugalbandi by Ravindra Katoti and Prakash Sontakke on September 27, 9 am at Bhoomika Hall, Malleswaram, 18 Cross. The evening session will feature Carnatic vocal recital by Arundhati Krishnan.

‘Shrishti’ sale

Shrishti, an exhibition-cum-sale of the latest collection of hand-embroidered silk, georgette and hand-painted Kanjeevaram sarees by Latha Puttanna, will be held on September 30 and October 1.  The event will also exhibit Benarasee nets and tissues with extravagantly hand-worked detail. Bengalee feast

The Bengalee Association of Bangalore is celebrating its golden jubilee with several colourful musical evenings for the Durga Puja till September 28.

The venue for the events is RBANM School Ground, near Ulsoor Lake, opposite Ajanta Talkies.  Four budding singers from Kolkata, who were among the top ten contestants in the TV show Little Champs of Zee Bangla Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, will perform on September 25 at 8.30 pm. Bengalee songs will be presented on September 26 at 8 pm by  Trinayani. On September 27, Aurko will rock the stage at 7.30 pm. For details, call 25366087.


Gallery Blue Spade will present a group art exhibition of four artists till October 5, 11 am to 7 pm at Chancery Pavilion, Lavelle Road.

Picture perfect

Dasara dolls on display. Doll fair

The Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited will organise an exhibition-cum-sale of Kolu toys — Dasara Fair till September 26, from 10 am to 8 pm, at Poompuhar showroom, Brigade Road.

The exhibition will have Kolu toys, Kondapalli toys, brass oil lamps, bronze icons statue, incense and perfumery, Kashmiri shawls. 


Goethe-Institute/Max Mueller Bhavan, in association with Toto Funds the Art, will hold a panel discussion about Issues in contemporary German and Indian literature on September 29, 6.30 pm at the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan. For  details, call 25205305. 

‘The Age of Stupid’

The Alliance Française de Bangalore will screen the movie The Age of Stupid, in association with Palador Pictures, on September 26 and 27, 3 pm.

Annual show

Galerie Sara Arakkal, will present paintings of 54 artists as a part of their sixth annual show, till September 30, 11 am to 6 pm at BEML Layout, ITPL Road.
Artists like Achuthan Kudallur, Pushpa Dravid, Ravi Kumar Kashi and Sultana Hasan will exhibit their works. The show is dedicated in memory of late K M Adimoolam.

Druthija’s works

Bangalore Art Foundation will exhibit the art work of eight-year-old Druthija Sathvali from eptember 30 to October 3, 10.30 am at the Venkatappa Art Gallery. Her paintings depict the beauty of the country-side and village life. 


Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat will exhibit paintings of B V Nalakar and Gavani P B called Painting Exhibition 09 till September 28, from 10 am to 7 pm.

Choyal works

Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat will exhibit the paintings of Choyal family, Udaipur, from October 7 to 11, 10.30 am to 7.30 pm at the Parishat Gallery.
