Fans celebrate Siddaramaiah's 65th birthday

Fans and supporters of opposition leader Siddaramaiah celebrated their leader’s 65th birthday hosting various programmes in the city on Sunday.

Former president of Mysore taluk panchayat Manjula Manjunath paid the fine amount on behalf of two inmates of Central Prisons Mysore, while former MLA M K Somashekar donated blood.

The Mysore city and district Congress units had organised a health check-up camp for students of the Government School for Blind, Dumb and Deaf, Tilak Nagar.

Jail inmates released

Raju of Bherya in K R Nagar taluk in Mysore district and Umesh of Alur in Hassan were languishing behind the bars even after completing their sentence, as they were unable to pay the fine amount.

Raju who was in jail for the past one year had completed his term four months ago, while Umesh who was sentenced for four years had completed his term two-and-a-half months ago.

Manjula Manjunath paid the fine amount of Rs 25,000 from her honorarium, helping their release. She later distributed sarees to 70 women inmates, besides distributing sweets to all prisoners. M K Somashekar donated blood at K R Hospital.

As many as 20 students of the school for blind underwent health check-up by former director of Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences Dr H T Chidanand.

President of city Congress C Dasegowda, former MLC Muktarunnisa Begum and others were present.
