'Govt supporting integrated agriculture after farmer suicides'

Government is supporting dairy farming, pisciulture, rabit rearing and cattle rearing after realising that farmers have started committing suicide for having failed to get good price for the agricultural produce, said Karnataka Veterinary and Fisheries Science University extension director Dr Shivanandamurthy.

Speaking at a seminar on dairy farming, integrated agriculture, and value added milk products training at Belenahalli in Tarikere, he said the number of farmers who have undertaken integrated farming have not committed suicide according to a survey. MLA D S Suresh also spoke. Vaccines were administered to cattle on the occasion Cheques were distributed to the beneficiaries of Vidharbha package.
