` 3 cr for renovating S'Pet taluk hospital: Ranjan

Govt okays UGD for Madikeri, Kushalnagar

District-in-charge minister Appachu Ranjan said that Rs three crore will be utilised for renovating the taluk hospital and staff quarters.

Speaking after receiving grievances from the public, he said “the Cabinet has okayed the underground drainage facility for Madikeri and Kushalnagar.

A sum of Rs one crore will be utilised for upgrading KSRTC bus shelter in Somwarpet. Tender process has already begun.

An action plan has been prepared to lay a garden near Harangi reservoir on the lines of Mysore Brindavan garden. The estimated cost of the project is Rs four crore. The foundation will be laid for the garden shortly.”

He said that priority will be given for education, houses for poor, drinking water and development of roads in the district.

As a large number of tourists visit the district, all weather road will be laid in the district. The work on preparing a blue print on Zilla Panchayat, PWD roads is under progress.”

Award amount

Later speaking after receiving felicitation from Viraktha Mutt, he said the Government is contemplating to increase the amount given for Ekalavya awardee from Rs 50,000 to Rs two lakh.

“There will be transparency while selecting the awardees for Ekalavya award. All those applications which do not have documents will be rejected. The final selection will be made by October 22. The award will be given to 15 persons.”
