Bid to rob Muthoot office foiled; staffer shot

An employee of the Muthoot Finance Private Ltd was shot at on Monday morning as he resisted an attempt to rob the company’s Mariyappanapalya branch on the outskirts of the City.

The attempt was eventually foiled. The branch manager, Sudhakar N, who received a bullet injury on his waist, was successfully operated upon at a private hospital.

Eyewitness accounts suggested that three armed men barged into the office around 10:45 am. While two stayed on the ground floor, one went upstairs. “We have learnt that one of the miscreants wielded a pistol and demanded that all jewellery and cash be handed over.

But the manager hit the alarm button. Following this, they panicked and shot at him, after which the duo escaped on a bike. The third person was waiting outside with a bike,” said Anupam Agarwal, Superintendent of Police, Ramanagara. Doctors atending on Sudhakar said there was no major damage and he was out of danger.
