A suspected bomb blast has rocked a cinema in the Swedish capital of Stockholm, a media report said Wednesday.

According to news website Local.se, the explosion occurred in northwestern Stockholm late Tuesday, and caused considerable damage to the building, but no one was hurt.

Witnesses said they heard a loud bang and saw smoke coming out of the Falken Cinema shortly after midnight.

Police were yet to ascertain what caused the blast. "We are currently unaware if it was some kind of gunpowder or something else that was used," Fredrik Ladenstedt of the Norrort Police was quoted as saying.

A car was seen leaving the cinema immediately after the blast, police said. The vehicle has not been identified yet.
