House spoke as one on northeast issue: Meira Kumar

To loud thumping of desks from the benches, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar Friday got up to say that the "serious and sensitive" discussion on the exodus of the northeast people was evidence of the house speaking in one voice.

The discussion, she said, was "serious and sensitive". The entire country was represented in the house, she said, appreciating the sentiment of oneness in the house.

Referring to the fact that the house spoke up in one voice, she said: "Northeast ke bhai-bahen, hum tumhare saath hain, yeh desh tumhara hai. (Brothers and sisters from the northeast, we are with you, the house is with you)."
