With the first unit of the 1,000 Mw Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP) close to the enriched uranium fuel loading stage, Chief Minister J Jayalalitha on Sunday yet again urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to allocate the entire power to be generated from that unit to power-starved Tamil Nadu.

Drawing attention to her earlier two letters on this issue, Jayalalitha in her third letter to Singh said she was given to understand that “nuclear fuel loading in the first unit of the KNPP is to happen within the next few days.”

Expressing dismay at no response so far from the prime minister to her earlier letters in this regard, Jayalalitha said she was taking this opportunity to remind him of her earlier request.

“I am sure you will appreciate my state’s justified demand in this matter and convey a positive response soon,” the AIADMK leader added.
