Separate cell to monitor central schemes

 Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has said the State government is planning to set up a separate unit to monitor the progress of the implementation of centrally-sponsored development programmes.

The chief minister was speaking after releasing a booklet on ‘3rd edition of Bharat Nirman and centrally-sponsored flagship programmes’ in the State, compiled by Bykere Nagesh, Addition Special Representatives of the Karnataka government here on Sunday.
The proposed cell will monitor the implementation of development schemes in districts and track their progress.

Shettar said the booklet would be distributed to all elected representatives including MPs and MLAs in the State to inform them about various centrally-sponsored welfare schemes.

Under the UPA government’s Bharat Nirman programme, various centrally sponsored developmental schemes are being implemented in states. As per the available data, during the 2011-12 period, Karnataka has received Rs 22,230 crore including Rs 10,702 crore in planned schemes from the Centre.
