'Incentive stopped due to resource crunch'

Last Updated 25 September 2009, 17:03 IST

Opposition leader in the Legislative Council V S Ugrappa on Friday alleged that the State government had stopped paying an incentive of Rs 2 for every litre of milk to farmers, due to resource crunch.

The farmers have not received the incentive amount for the last two months. The Government has to spend Rs 25 crore every month to implement the scheme.  But, due to mismanagement of the state’s finances, the Government does not have money to implement it, he alleged. He also alleged that the scheme was introduced last year with elections in mind.
