These districts are: Bangalore rural, Bangalore urban, Tumkur, Kolar, Ramanagar, Chikaballapur, Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajanagar and Hassan. An order to this effect was issued on Friday. This is the second time the government is issuing temporary permission for sand transportation.
The government has also directed the Mines and Geology department to chalk out new guidelines for sand transportation within six months. A team of officials had recently visited Tamil Nadu to study the system being followed there.
Interestingly, there is no change in terms and conditions for sand transportation. Recently, lorry owners, who transport sand, had protested demanding that the government should stop the alleged harassment by the Transport department officials at the check posts.
