Coffee package: Cong welcomes minister's move

Addressing a news conference, he said that coffee package should have been implemented by this time. District Congress Committee has written a letter to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Dr Manmohan Singh, Veerappa Moily and Kamalnath informing them about the condition of coffee planters and the need to implement the package.

The rate of repayment of loan is good in Kadur, Tarikere and N R Pura where coffee is not grown,” he informed and added that State government has been asked to intervene and solve the problems pertaining to coffee growers but nothing positive happened so far. Hence, the Centre is now being asked to extend help.

MP Sadananda Gowda has said that Bhadra Upper Canal Project will be implemented in Ajjampura without digging the canal but at the sametime, Chief Minister has said that the project will be implemented in Shimoga as it is. “The rift in State government is obvious by the difference in the version of two of them. These statements only create problems and confusion between people,” he said.

ZP President Gayathri Shanthegowda said that though a delegation met the CM and Minister for Rural Development Shobha Karandalaje and urged for appointment of CEO for the ZP, nothing has been done so far. “When we asked for additional funds for ZP, Shobha Karandalaje had answered rudely by saying that she will withdraw the funds given to ZP already,” she added.
