Horticulture department employees to protest atrocity

Protest would be staged in front of the deputy commissioner’s office on August 28 at 10.30 am by members of Mysore Division General Employees Association against atrocity allegedly committed on the workers of horticulture department at exhibition authority.

General secretary of the association D M Kenchappa, in a press meet here on Thursday, alleged that women workers of horticulture department at exhibition authority were assaulted by a contractor and a complaint has been lodged regarding the issue at Nazarbad police station.

He said that contractor Shivaswamy of Vigneshwara Enterprises is accused of lunging at women workers who questioned him about their salary. Women workers Pushpavathi, Puttamma, Jayamma, Thayamma, Bhayamma, Gowramma, Puttammanni, Mariyamma and male worker Chikka Manchaiah are the victims of the attack.

Salary dues

Kenchappa further alleged that, Shivaswamy had not paid the salary to his employees since two months. Though certain amount for PF and ESI was debited from their salary, it was not credited into their account. The workers approached him and questioned about the payment, while he lashed out at them.

“Shivaswamy is hand in glove with officials of exhibition authority and is paying the workers Rs 2,750 against their salary of Rs 3,870. We are rooked of Rs 1,120 which is not even redeemed,” he alleged.
