Mallya offers gold covering to Kukke temple doors

Liquor baron and UB group chairman Vijay Mallya offered a gold covering to the doors of the mantap outside the sanctum sanctorum of the Kukke Subramanya temple here on Thursday, to keep his vow made in April.

The gold covering, weighing 2.4 kg and costing Rs 80 lakh, was later attached to the doors of the mantap outside the sanctum sanctorum.

The doors have intricate carvings by sculptor Sudhakar Dongre. Mallya took a vow that he would offer golden doors to the main entrance of the sanctum sanctorum if the deity fulfilled his wishes.
