Nigerian arrested by DRI with heroin worth Rs 10 crore

Sources said 31-year-old Prince George Okoli was arrested by DRI sleuths from near the Haryana-Delhi border based on intelligence inputs.
They said Okoli was arrested after while he was getting down from a bus which came from Punjab at about eight in the morning.
Fine quality heroin of Afghan origin weighing 9.93 kg was recovered from the bag being carried by him.
Sources said Okoli had bought the heroin from Punjab and was to smuggle it abroad.
Recent cases of arrests by various anti-drug enforcement agencies have seen an increasing role of people of African origins in the illicit trade.
With today's haul, the total heroin seizures in the recent past in Delhi is 65 kilograms. The biggest seizure was on June 2 when the agency had seized 26 kg of heroin along with USD 25,900 and arrested one person.
Sources said preliminary investigation revealed that the heroin seized in the past few cases came from Afghanistan and Pakistan, which finds its way to Delhi through the Indo-Pak border at Punjab and Jammu regions.
Sources said they believe that most of the heroin is meant for destinations in Europe, Canada and Africa and the national capital was a transit point.
