CM launches construction works of various bhavans

District admn intends to spend Rs 24.08 crore for the projects

Chief minister Jagadish Shettar laid foundation stone for constructions of Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavan and Maharshi Valmiki Bhavan.

Ambedkar Bhavan on the premises of Nallapattana police station on Diwan’s road would be constructed in an area of 7470 sq mts at an estimated cost of Rs 14.66 crore. Mysore Urban development Authority (MUDA) has sanctioned Rs 4.66 crore, Mysore City Corporation (MCC) Rs three crore, zilla panchayat Rs 50 lakh and social welfare department Rs 6.50 crore. The building would be spread on an area of 87492.20 sq mt with basement of 3182.20 sq mt, ground floor 1843.20 sq mt, first floor 3182.20 sq mt and second floor 541.60 sq mt.

According to the plan, auditorium at bhavan would accommodate 2500 audience. The bhavan would have a library, two green rooms, rest rooms and toilets. Basement would accommodate parking of 150 cars and 350 two wheelers.  

Valmiki Bhavan

Maharshi Valmiki Bhavan at Vijaynagar 2nd stage would come up on the building site of 2655 sq mt area at an estimated cost of Rs 4.92 crore. MUDA has sanctioned Rs 1.50 crore, Mysore City Corporation Rs 1.42 crore and department for welfare of Scheduled Tribe Rs two crore.

In the building to be erected at 2258.50 sq mt, reading room with capacity of 40 members, dining room of 176 members capacity, office room, godown, rest room for men and women and toilets on ground floor of 1073.20 sq mt. The first floor of 1070.33 sq mt would have auditorium of 374 member capacity, two green rooms, toilets, two deluxe rooms and display area. The second floor 114.97 sq mt.  

Babu Jagjivanram Bhavan

He also inaugurated the Babu Jagjivanram Bhavan at Paduvarahalli, which is to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 4.5 crore. While the ground floor of the bhavan would be spread over an area of 1400.72 square metre, the first floor would house 1298.79 square metre.
It would house an auditorium, museum, reference library and reading hall. While MUDA’s share is Rs 2.50 crore, MCC would contribute Rs 1 crore. Zilla panchayat and social welfare department would provide Rs 50 lakh each.
