Farmer dies as fertiliser bag falls on his head

Krishnegowda, a 40-year-old farmer, was killed when a bag containing fertiliser fell on his head while unloading at Halladamanuganahalli village of the taluk on Wednesday.

A lorry containing bags of compost fertiliser was brought to the town by the watershed development department of the taluk in the morning, sources said.

The farmers vied with each other in unloading the bags from the lorry, even before the fertiliser distribution programme could begin.

One of the compost fertiliser bags fell on Krishnegowda killing him instantly, B Narayanaswamy, the taluk watershed development officer, said.
