Apr-July deficit at Rs 2.64 lakh cr

  India’s  April-July fiscal deficit stood at Rs 2.64 lakh crore or 51.5 per cent of budget estimates, slightly better compared to 55.4 per cent year-on-year.

India’s fiscal deficit slightly reduced in the first four months of the current financial year, giving hope that the budgeted target of 5.1 per cent of GDP will be nearly met.

 On one hand, government revenue collection grew at 18 per cent in April-July period compared to 17.4 per cent in same period last year and its expenditure reduced slightly at 29.3 per cent as against 29.8 per cent last year.
