The police said a foreign made 7.65-mm pistol, along with 16 cartridges and other incriminating articles, have been recovered from his possession.

The police said preliminary interrogation of the arrested person had revealed that he hailed from Nanded district of Maharashtra and that he had been to Saudi Arabia for a year and returned to India recently. It is learnt that he was taking shelter in Bangalore for the past several days.

Along with the other arrested accused, he was hatching a conspiracy to execute target killings in Bangalore and elsewhere.

Police sources said that after the recent crackdown on suspected terror modules, he had gone into hiding and was trying to escape from the city when the police apprehended him.

With the recent arrest, the total arrests made by the city police has risen to 13, with five men being arrested from Hubli and six from the city on August 29.

Based on the information given by the suspects, CCB sleuths had arrested one more suspect Obedulla-Ur-Rehman, 21, from Hyderabad.

The terror plot has now acquired a larger context with its tentacles spread over four cities – Bangalore, Hubli, Hyderabad and Nanded – across three neighbouring states – Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
