The Karnataka State Cricket Association felicitated VVS Laxman and Sunil Joshi at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Sunday.

Laxman, who shockingly called it quits before the start of the first Test between India and New Zealand at Hyderabad, was honoured with a plaque and a memento, while Joshi received a plaque and a KSCA State cap with his number on it.

KSCA president Anil Kumble, KSCA treasurer Thallam Venketesh, Indian Test legend GR Viswanath and KSCA vice-president Sadananda Maiya presented the mementoes to the two.

“To our proud son of Karnataka, we offer our token of appreciation. We'd like to honour Sunil Joshi on behalf of our cricketing fraternity, and the people of Karnataka,” Kumble announced to the large Sunday crowd.

Calling forth Laxman, Kumble said: “On behalf of KSCA and millions of admirers around the world, we would like to honour and felicitate a great Indian batsman who recently retired -- VVS Laxman.”

Former India skipper Rahul Dravid, KSCA secretary Javagal Srinath, and former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad were present on the occasion.
