Bisile, a nightmare, thanks to Maoists

Last Updated 12 September 2012, 16:58 IST

'Beauty spot' is a famous tourist pit-stop which can be arrived by travelling 16 kilometers on Bisile road from Kukke Subramanya to Sakleshpur.

The Yasaluru forest department has also constructed a view-spot here. Sadly, very few stop here to enjoy scenic beauty fearing Maoists.

Bisile road is the only connecting road to Yasaluru, Vanaguru, Hethuru and other places in Sakleshpur taluk. However, fearing Maoists people prefer not to travel by this road. Instead, they prefer to use Subramanya Gundya route even if it is longer. Only two KSRTC buses are seen plying on this road.

It is said that after the recent ANF and Maoists encounter in Subramanya's Palligaddhe Forest, they sneaked into the Bisile forest of Sakleshpur. The ANF is now conducting combing operations here and are keeping an eye on the vehicles that travel on this route.

When one travels 10 kilometers from Subramanya to Sakleshpur on Bisile road, they can see Gadi Chowdammana Gudi. Many people come here to place their vows.

If the new moon day falls on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, devotees throng here to perform poojas. Many offer chicken, pig, goat meat as offering for Bindu ritual. However, after the recent Maoist encounter incident the devotees have decreased.

People used to travel to forest to collect fodder and wood. Now, this activity has also stopped.
