Shobhayatre a grand finale to Janotsava

Enchanting tableaux in the form of Dashamantapas re-create heaven in Madikeri

The heavy rains which lashed Madikeri on Monday afternoon and evening had brought in fear among the organisers that it will affect Shobhayathre. However, rains which gave a break in the whole night and helped in the success of the shobhayathre. The assurance by the organisers that the procession of Dashamantapas will start in time have once again proved false. The tableau on the theme ‘Thripurasurara samhara’ by Dandina Maraiyamma temple committee won the first place. The tableau of Kote Mahaganapathy Temple on the theme ‘Parvathy thanayanige gajavadana’ won second place. The tableau on the theme ‘Navashakthi vaibhava’ by Chowdeshwari temple won third -place.
As part of the prize, Dandina Mariyamma Temple Committee was given 20 gm gold coin, Kote Mahaganapathy Temple Committee with 16 gm gold coin and Chowdeshwari Temple Committee with 10 gm gold coin. The remaining seven mantapas were given two silver lamp pillars and four Shakthi Goddess Karagas were given silver plates. Assembly Deputy Speaker K G Bopaiah distributed the prizes to the winners.

Hotels, government buildings, redaymade shops, police stations and others have won prizes for decorating their premises. Athithi hotel won first place in decoration followed by Amanthran Veg and Meghana.

In medical shop division, Vaido, Vignesh and Suraksha medicals won first, second and third place respectively. In footware division, Ramya footware won first place. In decorator shop division, Vikram, Swagath and Kripa won first, second and third place respectively.

In electronics division, Ashik electronics, Sooha and Vignesh video won first, second and third place respectively. In readymade shop division, Sindoor textiles, fashion world, and Maharashtra cloth store won first, second and third prizes respectively. In temple division, Kundurumotte Chowti Mariamma temple won first place followed by Kanchi Kamakshiyamma and Kote Mariyamma temple.

In government building division, Raja Seat won first, government museum won second and SC Welfare Directorate won third prize. In semi government division, Chescom office, KSRTC depot and KSRTC bus stand won first, second and third place respectively. The Central government building division, Akashavani, BSNL service centre and post office bagged first three places. In police station division, rural police station won first prize followed by town police station and traffic station.

In co-operative building category, Coffee Kripa won first place followed by KDCC bank and Janata Bazar won second and third places respectively. In lodge category, Marcara Inn won first place followed by Rajadarshini.

In banks category, Corporation Bank has won first place followed by SBI and SBM.
