Jagan camp ups ante, MLAs quitting

Last Updated 29 September 2009, 19:00 IST

While Sattenapalli legislator Venkateshwar Reddy is reported to have sent his resignation letter to Chief Minister K Rosaiah, another Jagan follower, Minister Konda Surekha, has threatened to quit the cabinet if Jagan was not elected the CLP leader immediately.
Kanigiri MLA U Narasimha Reddy said he would resign if Rosaiah was the party high command’s choice for CM. According to reports, at least nine more MLAs are said to be planning to quit.

Meanwhile, Rosaiah said those not wanting to cooperate with him were free to quit the party. He, however, said Jagan was being misled by a small group of “selfish” men and women and were rebelling against the party high command. Senior leader V Hanumantha Rao decried attempts by the Jagan followers to “blackmail” the high command which has said it will take a decision “at an appropriate time”.
