'Lay stress on emotional quotients in education'

State Aided Primary School Teachers Association district conference held

The current education  system gives importance to intelligence quotient only, opined Assembly Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat. He said that educationists should make use of spiritual and emotional issues while imparting quality and modern education to youth and lead India to a developed nation in the coming days.

He was delivering a presidential address during the inaugural function of the Karnataka State Aided Primary School Teachers Association district unit conference here on Tuesday.

He said that formulating an education system which gives equal importance to intelligence quotient (IQ), emotional quotient (EQ) and spiritual quotient will help the students to develop themselves as responsible citizens and good human beings who will uphold India’s cultural values. Assuring that the government will look after the problems of primary teachers, he said that he is promoting  the demand of issuing salary for teachers through HRMS system.

Sri Rama Vidya Kendra Convener Dr Prabhakar Kalladka, who inaugurated the conference, said that school teachers play an important role in improving the knowledge in a student’s life.

“In a world filled with hatredness, war and clashes between communities, it is the duty of teachers to impart ideal education and values to the young minds. Teachers are the one who should make the students understand about humanity and the values associated with it,” he said. Addressing the issues of teachers, he said that there shall not be any discrimination between the government school teachers and aided school teachers.

“Whether the government or aided, teachers are doing  same service. They are working hard for creating a good and quality young generation. Aided school teachers should be treated like government teachers and given the benefits,” he added.

Association District unit secretary K M K Manjanady raised the concern of Aided Primary School Teachers to the officials at  the conference.

He demanded teachers and students of aided schools should be treated on par with government schools.  He wanted  the medium of instruction should be Kannada from one to five standard and English medium should be allowed from sixth standard onwards.

Other demands included effective implementation of RTE Act and conducting teachers training programmes during school hours and during vacations. He urged the government to meet their demands at the earliest.

Teacher’s constituency MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik and Dakshina Kannada Sahitya Parishath President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura were felicitated during on the occasion.

Karnataka State Aided Primary School Teachers Association President Prakash Murthy,MLA Ramanath Rai, BJP district unit President Padmanabha Kottary, Deputy Director of Public Instruction Moses Jayashekhar among others were present at the occassion.
