Two held for looting Rs 63L

Last month, they shot at four petrol pump employees

Two persons were arrested on Friday for shooting at four employees of a petrol pump and robbing Rs 63 lakh at Vivek Vihar in east Delhi. Two associates of the arrested persons are absconding, police said.

Aakil, 25, and Wasim, 24, both residents of Meerut, were arrested at Badarpur in south-east Delhi while they were coming from Faridabad, said additional commissioner of police (south-east) Ajay Chaudhry.

“We have recovered Rs 12.40 lakh, a motorcycle; jewellery worth Rs 2.5 lakh, which was purchased from the looted amount, and a pistol from them,” said Chaudhry.

Aakil was held after police got a tip-off that a man with a criminal background was about to come from Faridabad on Tuesday night on a motorcycle through Badarpur border.
He was stopped at a police picket and during routine checking, a country–made pistol and two live cartridges were found in his possession, an official said. He was arrested and a case under the Arms Act was filed with Badarpur police station.

He told police that he was involved in a robbery that took place at Vivek Vihar on August 11. Aakil said he met Kamaluddin in Meerut and started trafficking drugs with him.
Kamaluddin introduced him to Aamir and he started living with Aamir at Zakir Colony in Meerut, where he met Wasim.

In August, he told Aamir and Wasim that he had a plan of looting a petrol pump’s cash in Delhi.

Then three of them came to Sunder Nagari in Delhi. On August 9, they conducted a recce of the route on which a vehicle carries cash from the petrol pump to Canara Bank in Vivek Vihar. Wasim called one of his friend, Rashid, to join the robbery bid.

On August 11, four persons — Wasim, Aamir, Aakil and Rashid — on two motorcycles stopped the car carrying the cash at Vivek Vihar.
When the driver objected, Aamir fired at him, following which the occupants started running with the cash bags.

Aamir and Rashid fired at them and snatched the bags. All the four accused fled on a motorcycle and left the other two-wheeler on the spot.

Jagmohan Singh, Bansal, Puneet and Vinod, who work with Vicky at the fuel station in Dilshad Garden, were injured in the incident.

Police said after interrogating Aakil, they arrested Wasim. “A hunt is on to nab the other accused,” said the officer.
