There is drought like situation in four states. The Cauvery River Authority (CRA) direction to the State government to release 9,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu is not right. Prime Minister has taken a unilateral decision.

“The Centre should send a team to Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to assess the available quantity of water,” he said.

The four ministers representing the State in the Centre should have impressed upon Prime Minister on the drought situation in Karnataka.

There is acute shortage of water in seven to eight districts in the State. The crops have gone dry. If water is released to Tamil Nadu till October 15, then the State will be in crisis.

Former minister Mahadev accused the State government for not responding to the problems of the people of drought hit taluks.
