'I have been listening to a lot of scripts'

Priyamani is thrilled about her much-hyped movie, Charulatha, in which she plays the role of conjoined twins.

Priyamani confesses that she has never played such a character before and it was indeed a challenge for her to perform.

“I had to shoot every scene twice and that’s a lot of work — not only for me, but for the entire crew as well. This is the first time that a movie has been made about conjoined twins and I am glad that I was chosen to play the role,” she tells Metrolife.
Priyamani points out that unlike most actors, who play double roles, she has essayed two dramatically different characters who happen to be conjoined.

“I had to switch expressions and change my body language for the role. The twins had very contrasting characters. While one was quiet, the other was loud and outgoing. This is not a typical masala film, but one that has been treated very differently, with a lot of sensitivity,” observes Priyamani.

The movie has also been released in Tamil, Telugu and  Malayalam. Priyamani is
happy with the way her career is shaping up and the fact that Charulatha has, in a way, opened up a whole new world of opportunities to her.

“In addition to putting in a lot of hard work, we have used graphics and
a few subtle camera tricks. I am hoping that this character will be appreciated by people. In terms of work, I am looking at working on characters that are different,” she says.

Priyamani is playing Shivarajkumar’s wife in Lakshmi. “I have been listening to a lot of scripts, almost everyday, but I haven’t signed on the dotted line yet. I am in no hurry and don’t believe in doing films one after another just for the sake of visibility,” Priyamani sums up.
